MARYLAND HIGH SCHOOL REQUIRED STUDENTS TO PROFESS ‘ALLAH IS GOD’

A Maryland high school gave a student failing grades for refusing to participate in classroom assignments requiring her to profess faith in Islam and threatened the girl’s father with arrest for complaining.

A suit was filed against Charles County Public Schools in La Plata, Maryland. The plaintiffs and parents of the high school student are John Kevin Wood, a Marine Corps veteran, and his wife Melissa. The couple “refuse[d] to allow their teenage daughter to be subjected to Islamic indoctrination and propaganda in her high school world history class.”

The lawsuit states that the school’s “curriculum, practices, policies, actions, procedures, and customs promote the Islamic faith by requiring students to profess the five pillars if Islam.”

The complaint goes on to state that the students were required to “write out and confess the shahada, the Islamic profession of faith” and that the school officials had two textbooks- one for home and a different one with the Islamic teaching that was required to stay at school.
