ISIS terrorists took over the key Iraqi city of Ramadi, killing at least 500 and sending 8,000 fleeing, provincial officials said Monday. Shiite fighters, meanwhile, vowed to counter-attack and take back the city, the Associated Press reported. The United States had been sending in airstrikes to root ISIS from the Anbar provincial capital. Fox News reported Iraqi fighters had fled from the front line. The death toll is likely to grow. Officials said bodies littered the streets as thousands left the vicinity. “We do not have an accurate count yet,” said Anbar spokesman Muhannad Haimour, AP reported. “We estimate that 500 people have been killed, both civilians and military and approximately 8,000 have fled the city.” ISIS is now only 70 miles outside Baghdad.
