Is the Upcoming Solar Eclipse a Sign of the End Times?

A total solar eclipse will take place in the U.S. on August 21, 2017. People around the country are planning eclipse-viewing parties and eagerly awaiting this event which last happened 38 years ago.

Some are even speculating that the eclipse is a sign of the end times. Some Christians are pointing to verses such as Matthew 24:29 or Revelation 6:12 which discuss events that will occur before Christ’s Second Coming.

“Immediately after the distress of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken” (Matt. 24:29).

“I watched as the Lamb broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake. The sun became as dark as black cloth, and the moon became as red as blood” (Rev. 6:12).

Christian Today reports that Pastor Mark Blitz is one who believes the eclipse is “meant to be a sign from God” as an event that Jesus told His followers to look out for.
