IAF Strikes Gaza After Rocket Fire

Overnight, a rocket fired from Gaza exploded in an unpopulated area in the vicinity of the security fence in Eshkol Regional Council. The IDF retaliated by striking a weapon manufacturing site in the heart of the Gaza Strip, which reportedly belongs to Hamas. “This occasional rocket fire cannot be allowed to become routine,” Eshkol Mayor Gadi Yarkoni told Israel’s Channel 2 News. “The Prime Minister and the Defense Minister have to make decisions regarding how they are going to react. However, the wise thing to do is not to react after the rockets had already been fired, but to prevent the rocket fire before it occurs,” he added. Yarkoni claims that every time a rocket is fired from Gaza, it takes the residents of the South back to last summer’s operation. “This is an opportunity to call upon the government to prevent tunnel construction, which is the most important thing at the moment,” he stressed.
